White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt is pushing back on speculation that Amy Gleason was only recently named administrator of the Department of Government Efficiency, the temporary organization that has become synonymous with Elon Musk’s attempts to reduce the size of the federal government and its spending.

It was originally believed that Elon Musk was leading the agency as he had been instrumental in setting up the framework for what Trump wanted to accomplish.

Gleason worked for DOGE’s predecessor agency before joining the firm Russell Street Ventures, founded by another DOGE leader, Brad Smith.
