Guatemalan President Bernardo Arévalo says his country will accept migrants from other countries who are being deported from the United States.

Guatemala has pledged a 40% increase in deportation flights carrying Guatemalans and migrants of other nationalities from the United States, President Bernardo Arévalo announced Wednesday during a press conference with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

Guatemala agreed to increase by 40% the number of flights carrying Guatemala migrants as well as deportees of other nationalities from the US, that nation's president said Wednesday. President Bernardo Arevalo praised relations with the US and said the two nations have challenges of migration, border security, and combat of transnational crime.

GUATEMALA CITY - Guatemala will accept 40% more deportation flights from the United States, including both Guatemalan deportees and those of other nationalities, President Bernardo Arevalo said after a meeting with U.

Guatemala’s president has said after meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio that his country will accept migrants from other countries being deported from the US. Under the “safe third country” agreement announced by President Bernardo Arevalo, the deportees would then be returned to their home countries at US expense.

Guatemala will accept 40% more deportation flights including both Guatemalan deportees and those of other nationalities.
