HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez was looking to secure another term in office as he faced Republican challenger Mike Knox in the November General Election. Gonzalez was elected sheriff back in 2026. Before being elected sheriff, Gonzalez served on the Houston City Council for three terms representing District H.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, a Democrat, is leading Republican challenger Mike Knox in his bid for reelection, according to early and unofficial election results Gonzalez had about 52% percent of the vote after the first round of reported votes,

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez will continue serving the county as sheriff after winning reelection. He was elected into the position back in 2016.

Fort Bend County Sheriff Eric Fagan will keep serving the county after winning reelection. He was originally elected as sheriff in November 2020.
