In a surprise move, the Texans waived the veteran wide receiver just three weeks after claiming him off waivers from the Baltimore Ravens. He’s an impending free agent after the year, so only a team remaining in the playoffs could claim him for a run to New Orleans.

Johnson played in two total games for the Texans, catching two passes for 12 yards in the regular-season finale against the Tennessee Titans, and one catch for 12 yards in the wild-card win over the Los Angeles Chargers. The 28-year-old was claimed by the Texans on Dec. 23 after being waived by the Baltimore Ravens .

The Houston Texans waived Diontae Johnson Tuesday after the beleaguered receiver — who was released by the Ravens earlier this season after refusing to enter a game — played just two games for them. Johnson had one reception for 12 yards in Houston's wild-card playoff win over the Chargers on Saturday.
