The nation’s federal law enforcement and election security agencies are debunking two new examples of Russian election disinformation.

Russia, and to a lesser extent Iran, will most likely flood social media with misinformation on Election Day and for weeks afterward, the agencies said.

In a joint statement released Monday, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, FBI and Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency said Russia and Iran remain active threats to undermine public confidence in the election.

Intelligence officials say that Russian actors are actively trying to meddle with the Nov. 5 election by disseminating fake videos meant to question election integrity.

Eight years after Russia interfered in the 2016 presidential election, foreign influence with American voters has grown more sophisticated. That could have outsize consequences in the 2024 race.

Intelligence officials said they have noted an increase in attempts to manipulate public perception and incite divisions among Americans as Election Day approaches.
