Voters in Portland, Oregon, have elected political outsider Keith Wilson as their next mayor. Wilson, a Portland native and CEO of a trucking company, ran on an ambitious pledge to end unsheltered homelessness within a year of taking office.

Portland's presumptive Mayor-elect Keith Wilson gave a victory speech Thursday afternoon, speaking to supporters, other elected officials and city council candidates at the Charles Jordan Community Center.

It’s official: Keith Wilson is Portland’s next mayor. A relative political newcomer who received just 5% of the vote when he ran for a seat on Portland City Council in 2020, he walloped his incumbent competition and will finish with about 62% of the votes.
