BOSTON - Karen Read's attempt to get some criminal charges against her thrown out on the grounds of double jeopardy came before the highest court in Massachusetts Wednesday.

BOSTON (AP) — An attorney for Karen Read on Wednesday argued at the state's highest court that trying her again on several charges related to the death of her Boston police officer boyfriend amounted to double jeopardy and that it should allow jurors to be questioned about the verdict.

The Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court will hold a hearing on the Karen Read case on Wednesday. The Mansfield woman’s defense team is seeking to have the murder charge dismissed. Read is accused of killing her Boston police officer boyfriend John O’Keefe on a snowy day in January 2022.
