An officer with the Greensboro, North Carolina police department was fatally shot while responding to reports of a man with a gun in a local supermarket on Monday and authorities say they now have a suspect in custody.

He was an excellent officer,” Harris said. “He had an outstanding reputation inside the department and in the community.”
