President Joe Biden will travel to the Coachella Valley on Tuesday, to announce the creation of a national monument south of Joshua Tree National Park, according to media reports.

The designations will protect nearly 850,000 acres in the lake-dotted forests in far Northern California and arid desert lands in Southern California near Joshua Tree.

In the closing days of his administration, Biden plans to travel to California to dedicate the Chuckwalla National Monument, sources said.
