The John Gibson era in Anaheim has ended. The longest-tenured player in the organization after Cam Fowler was dealt to the St. Louis Blues last December, Gibson was traded to the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday in exchange for goaltender Petr Mrázek,

The Detroit Red Wings hope they shored up their goaltending by acquiring John Gibson Saturday from the Anaheim Ducks for goalie Petr Mrazek and a pair of draft picks. Gibson, 31, has two years remaining on his contract at a $6.4 million average annual value.

After being displaced as the Ducks' starter in recent years, John Gibson is looking forward to showing he is still a quality NHL goaltender.
