The San Francisco Giants reportedly completed a trade with the Boston Red Sox for star slugger Rafael Devers, and his new team is ready to welcome him to the Bay Area.

The Boston Red Sox took the MLB by surprise when they agreed to trade Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants on Sunday evening for pitchers Jose Bello, Kyle Harrison, Jordan Hicks and outfielder James Tibbs III.

In an in-game interview with ESPN, shortstop Willy Adames described finding out about the trade just 15 or 20 minutes before first pitch. Kyle Harrison — who was included in the trade — was initially slated to start for the Giants, so the pitching plans had to change on the fly. Sean Hjelle took over as the starter for the bullpen game.
