Brazilian rookie Gabriel Bortoleto will race for Sauber in Formula One from next year, the team said Wednesday while also confirming the departures of Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu.

Formula 2 points leader Gabriel Bortoleto's hire as part of Sauber's overhauled 2025 Formula 1 driver lineup, effectively means the end of the road for current driver pairing Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu. Sauber will run with Bortoleto and current Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg next season.

It's been a tough season for Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber. The longstanding outfit, formerly known as Alfa Romeo, is last in the Formula One standings with zero points.

Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu will leave Sauber at the end of the 2024 F1 season, Sauber have announced. Sauber confirmed on Wednesday morning that both their current incumbents will exit the team ahead of the 2025 campaign.

Formula 1 will have a full-time Brazilian driver for the first time since 2017 after Sauber announced F2 leader Gabriel Bortoleto will join the team.

Formula 1 drivers Valtteri Bottas of Finland and Zhou Guanyu of China will leave Sauber at the end of the season, the F1 team confirmed Wednesday. Formula 2 championship leader Gabriel Bortoleto and Nico Hulkenberg will join the squad next season in place of Bottas and Zhou, according to a Sauber statement.
