At least five people have died in West Virginia, where flash flooding hit Wheeling and nearby Triadelphia and Valley Grove areas over the weekend. At least 4 people were still missing Sunday, according to emergency management officials with Wheeling and Ohio counties.

At least three people were killed and several others remained missing Sunday as flash flooding tore through a West Virginia county. About 2.5 to 4 inches of rain fell in 30 minutes across Ohio County, in the state’s northern panhandle west of Pennsylvania, according to county emergency management director Lou Vargo.

Flash flooding caused by torrential rains has killed five people in northern West Virginia and rescue crews are out searching for three other people who are missing.
