The White House on Friday posted an image of President Donald Trump dressed as the pope on X, sparking both backlash and glee online.

The White House seems to be continuing its affinity for artificial intelligence-generated imagery depicting Donald Trump in bizarre and deifying themes, from a falsified photo of him as a would-be pope to now a hunk-ified Sith lord from Star Wars (none of these words are in the Bible).

An AI image of Trump as the pope, shared by him and the White House, drew backlash from Catholic leaders. While the White House defended him as “a staunch champion for Catholics,” US bishops called the post disrespectful after Pope Francis’ death.
