Winter Weather Warnings Issued for 9 States As 'Lake Effect Snow' Hits
Winter weather advisories or winter storm warnings are in place for nine states across the U.S. as of early Tuesday morning, and up to nine inches of snow is forecast by the National Weather Service (NWS) in some parts of the country.
Lake effect snow warning for Oswego County until Saturday morning
On Thursday at 1:41 p.m. a lake effect snow warning was issued by the National Weather Service valid from 9 p.m. until Saturday 7 a.m. for Oswego County.
Update: Winter weather advisory issued for 7 Michigan counties until Thursday evening – up to 3 inches of snow
The National Weather Service issued an updated winter weather advisory at 3:47 p.m. EST on Thursday in effect until 7 p.m. EST for Mason, Oceana, Muskegon, Ottawa, Allegan, Van Buren and Kalamazoo counties.

Winter weather alert calls for 1 to 2 feet of lake effect snow in parts of Central NY
Heavy lake effect snow is expected from 4 p.m. Monday to 1 p.m. Wednesday, with a total of one to two feet in the most persistent lake snows, according to the weather service. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph, resulting in blowing and drifting snow. Snow alert issued for Central NY as another round of lake effect hits Jan. 7, 2025, 6:46 a.m.
