Inflows into India's equity mutual funds declined slightly in January from the previous month, as a drop in buying in the sectoral and thematic funds overpowered rising traction of largecaps, data released on Wednesday showed.

Liquid funds attracted ₹91,592 crore, followed by money market funds (₹21,915 crore) and overnight funds (₹18,936 crore).

The investors' focus towards making the most of the market fall in January can also be gauged from the fact that around 30.7 lakh new folios were added during the month.

The dip in inflows coincided with a weak performance in the stock market, as the BSE Sensex fell by 1.28 per cent and the Nifty dropped 0.99 per cent in January.

Equity Mutual Fund inflows declined marginally by 3.6% in January 2025, settling at Rs 39,687.78 crore compared to Rs 41,155.91 crore in December 2024, data released by the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) on February 12 showed.
