Israel’s military says it intercepted a missile fired toward the country by Yemen’s Houthi rebels. The attack set off sirens late Monday in central areas of Israel, including Tel Aviv.

The latest round of strikes occurred as the United States and its ally Israel struggle to halt a campaign of regional assaults by Yemen’s Houthi militants.

Sybiha became the latest foreign representative to meet with Sharaa in Damascus, where the latter's Hayat Tahrir al-Sham forces and their allies are establishing a transitional government having toppled former President Bashar Assad.

World Health Organization chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus was about to board a plane at the Sanaa International Airport when it came under attack. A crew member on the plane was injured, he said.

Israel is signaling a wider campaign against Houthi militants in Yemen, a mountainous and impoverished country more than 1,000 miles from Israeli territory.

The head of the World Health Organization said he was about to board a flight in the Yemeni capital when the airport came under bombardment.
