WWE announcer Corey Graves caught the attention of many around the wrestling world late Monday night when he took to social media to air grievances regarding no longer appearing on Monday Night Raw or Friday Night Smackdown.

The former wrestler turned talking head hit up X last night to say he was told he’s “not famous enough for (his) own job.” That’s clearly a shot at Pat McAfee, who recently returned from his work on college football broadcasts and was given the color commentator slot on Raw opposite Michael Cole. Corey Graves said that he had a lot to say on WWE NXT, but he reportedly won’t be appearing on the show. Corey Graves sparked controversy on Monday when he addressed his move to NXT in a tweet and implied that he was told that he was “not famous enough” for his job.

The commentator was reportedly seen going through airport security in Orlando, Florida, where NXT is filmed. Graves had returned to the developmental announce team last week, sitting alongside Booker T and Vic Joseph, as WWE dissolved his partnership with Michael Cole.

This meant that longtime announce Corey Graves (Matthew Polinksy) was relegated to NXT on The CW. And Graves isn’t very happy about it. Imagine chasing your dream. Then being TOLD (not deciding) that you’re no longer physically able to pursue your dream.

Graves had previously been part of the RAW and SmackDown commentary teams, but WWE had reportedly wanted Pat McAfee’s star power for Monday Night RAW, which led to changes in the commentary lineup. WWE had announced that Graves would be returning to NXT, but there is obviously some uncertainty surrounding his status at this time.

In addition to Corey's X post, Mike Johnson over at PWInsider reports that there have been rumblings for the past several weeks that Corey Graves wasn't happy with his on-screen "positioning" with WWE. This latest social media post would certainly seem to back that up.

On the same night that Graves announced his retirement at NXT TakeOver: R Evolution, he joined the commentary team. Ever since the brand split in 2016, Graves has been a main roster commentator for both RAW and SmackDown. His return to NXT in 2025 surprised many fans, and Graves himself.
