Tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated further after a top Pakistani official claimed early Wednesday it has “credible intelligence” that New Delhi will carry out a military action against Islamabad within the next two days.

Authorities in Indian-controlled Kashmir have temporarily shut more than half of tourist resorts in the scenic Himalayan region following a deadly attack on tourists.

The Pakistani government said that if India followed through on a threat to block rivers it would take it as “an act of war.”

Kashmiris have denounced last week’s deadly militant assault on tourists in Pahalgam but fear they will be caught in the widening Indian clampdown.
