5.6 million Michigan voters cast a ballot in this year’s presidential election, breaking the record set in 2020. Clerks attribute the high turnout to more voting options and the attention the state received over the year. However, despite the overall higher vote totals, turnout in some areas of mid-Michigan was actually down.

While it will still be a few days before the final numbers are tabulated, Benson said the state is above 5.5 million ballots cast.
