A shark spotted jumping out of the water early Wednesday, March 5, in Huntington Beach has shut down a stretch of ocean until at least Thursday morning. The sighting came from a credible source at 8:10 a.m., according to city spokesperson Jennifer Carey. It was seen near Tower 26.

Marine safety units using wave runners and a helicopter searched the area for the shark, which was said to be about 6 or 7 feet long.

A stretch of beach in Huntington Beach was closed on Wednesday due to a shark sighting. City officials said that the 6-to-7-foot great white shark was spotted at around 8:10 a.m., at which point they closed the beach a mile in each direction from Lifeguard Tower 26.
