President Donald Trump will use an executive order Wednesday to bar transgender athletes under the federal Title IX law. That law bars sex discrimination at educational institutions that receive federal funds.

The U.S. House passed a bill, largely along partisan lines, that would ban transgender athletes from competing in women's and girls sports at schools and other educational institutions that receive federal funds.

The National Collegiate Athletic Association changed its transgender participation policy, disallowing transgender women from competing on women’s teams, one day after President Donald Trump banned transgender women from women’s athletics at colleges and schools.

The move comes day after Trump signed an order intended to ban people assigned male at birth from participating in women’s sports.

Joe Biden signed an executive order on his first day in office that interpreted sex as “gender identity" under Title IX, a move that protected transgender athletes from being discriminated against if they wanted to participate in a sport that aligned with their gender identity, not their sex assigned at birth.

The new reported executive order by Trump would coincide with National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Wednesday.
