State officials have awarded more than $2 million in federal funding to help local police departments and state agencies prevent firearm deaths and injuries across Massachusetts.

Law enforcement officials have arrested a man who was wanted for allegedly holding a girl against her will at a Massachusetts hotel.

The Massachusetts State Police, along with the West Newbury Police Department, are asking for help in finding a missing neurodivergent teen. Police say 14-year-old Madison Marino was last seen in West Newbury wearing dark colored clothing and a backpack.

Kristian Avery, 46, of Windsor, allegedly broke into the town’s firehouse, attempted to start a fire there and stole a pickup truck early Saturday morning.

Police said they have identified a suspect and issued a warrant after a juvenile was found being held against her will at a MetroWest hotel earlier this week.
