New Castle County Executive Matt Meyer and state Rep. Mike Ramone are running to become the next governor of Delaware.

More than 200,000 Delawareans voted early in person at one of the state's 19 early-voting sites. The total represents about 1-in-4 registered voters. The state has also had 37,416 votes cast via absentee ballot, according to the most recent Delaware Department of Elections data.

During September’s primary election, Henry won the Democratic nomination for New Castle County Executive over former New Castle County President Karen Hartley-Nagle, receiving just over 60% of the votes.

Matt Meyer, a newcomer to state politics who ran against candidates with years of experience in Dover, will serve as Delaware’s next governor. Meyer on Tuesday defeated Republican nominee Mike Ramone, a businessman and the state Senate Minority Leader.

Democrats are hoping to extend their decades-long hold on the Delaware governor’s office, while the Republican candidate says voters should think about restoring partisan balance to state government.
