The Brevard County Sheriff's Office says 20-year old Aniya Sheppard had been shot and left to die along a rural road. They describe her as the likely the target of the violent attack but have not shared any suspect information.

The Brevard County Sheriff's Office released the identity of the woman that was found on the side of the road early Monday morning in West Melbourne.

A body found by a passerby on the side of the road has been identified as a 20-year-old woman killed in a targeted attack, Florida authorities said. Someone discovered Aniya Sheppard shot dead next to the road in West Melbourne shortly before 7 a.
