In a 5-2 vote, the Burien City Council has approved an emergency ordinance making it illegal for individuals to reside, sleep, or have personal items such as blankets on any public property at any time.

The city of Burien passed an expansion on its camping ban in a 5–2 vote. With temperatures dropping dangerously low this week, some are questioning why the Burien City Council voted to do it. The city manager says as written,

This decision aligns with the Supreme Court's ruling in Grants Pass v. Johnson, which permits cities to prohibit sleeping in public spaces.
