Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick urges the state to adopt 'Texas strip' to rebrand the beef industry, saying, "Liberal New York shouldn't get the credit."

Marc and Greg Sherry, who own the longest-running steakhouse in the city, the Old Homestead on Ninth Avenue, are so proud of the cut that they call it “Sherry Brothers 16 oz. New York prime sirloin” on their menu.

Now, Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick says he wants to change the name of a steak. In a post to X on Friday afternoon, Patrick said a resolution will be filed to rename the “New York Strip” to the “Texas Strip” at restaurants and grocery stores here in the Lone Star State.
