Syracuse, N.Y. -- Rite Aid drug store said in a letter to employees Monday it is closing its distribution center in Liverpool and moving those operations to Maryland. The drug chain said it had analyzed how it could operate its distribution network more efficiently.

HanesBrands reported plans to close its distribution center in High Point, NC, that previously supported its Champion brand business. According to a report filed with The N.C. Department of Commerce, the plant closure will result in the layoff of 75 workers.

Rite Aid will lay off 233 workers when it closes the center at 7245 Henry Clay Blvd., according to a notice filed Tuesday with the state Department of Labor under the state Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act.
