Voters in Portland, Oregon, have elected political outsider Keith Wilson as their next mayor. Wilson, a Portland native and CEO of a trucking company, ran on an ambitious pledge to end unsheltered homelessness within a year of taking office.

The next mayor of Portland, Keith Wilson, spoke to a crowd of press and onlookers at the Charles Jordan Community Center in North Portland on Thursday afternoon after results showed voters chose him by a landslide.

Two days after the election, Keith Wilson declared victory as Portland’s new mayor. Commissioners Carmen Rubio and Rene Gonzalez conceded.
