The New England Patriots kicked off mandatory minicamp in Foxboro on Monday, and the theme of the day was energy.

Jerod Mayo lasted only one season as head coach, but that has given way to Mike Vrabel — a New England legend and a good coach — as the new shot-caller for the Patriots.

As the offseason transitioned into the mandatory phase of things, only two players — guards Wes Schweitzer and Tyrese Robinson — were nowhere to be seen. Prior to practice, head coach Mike Vrabel noted that a couple players would not be present for “personal reasons.”
