For the second straight year, Cowan and Team Canada went home in the quarterfinals. That shouldn't mean much to the Leafs.

Several comments directed at the 19-year-old Leafs prospect are calling out his performance at this year's tournament.

Most notably, Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Easton Cowan took a costly boarding infraction in the third period that had the United States earning the last laugh in an eventual 4-1

The 19-year-old scored a hat-trick in Canada's opening pre-tournament game on Thursday against Switzerland. Cowan scored his country's fourth goal of the first period, after a nice passing play between himself, Calum Ritchie, and Bradly Nadeau.

Easton Cowan might have played the worst hockey game of his junior hockey career on Tuesday night. To set the scene, Canada lost 4-1 to the United States in the final game of the 2025 World Junior Championship round robin.

Canada sustained a devastating 4-3 loss to Czechia in the world junior hockey championship quarterfinal on Thursday, eliminating them from the annual tournament.

Cowan is participating in the tournament for the second time after Canada was eliminated in the quarter finals last year by Czechia. The 19-year-old has one goal and two assists through three games at this year's tournament.
