Voters heading to the polls could determine the future of Arizona's primary elections. Proposition 140 would establish open primaries in Arizona and give independents equal footing with candidates and voters registered with an established political party.

This proposition would amend the state Constitution to allow for open primaries, in which any eligible voter could vote for any candidate regardless of party.

There is no exact parallel anywhere in the country to Proposition 140, even as a handful of states have opened up their primary systems.
