Two men died in the violence on Democracy Street, in the Renaissance Park neighborhood off Tryon Road, and a Raleigh police officer remained hospitalized after the shooting. A large police truck with a ram attached to its front end remained in the alley on the street’s 600 block, where the garage door was smashed in.

Raleigh Police released its initial report Tuesday regarding the officer who was shot in the line of duty last week.

RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- A woman was taken to the hospital on Sunday evening after she was injured in a shooting. Raleigh police said officers responded to calls about a shooting at around 5:50 p.m. in the 6300 block of Hillsborough Street near a barbeque restaurant. When officers arrived they found a woman with a gunshot wound.
