Suriya film is off to a shaky start, and the Rs 22 crore opening day collections in India put it behind GOAT, Vettaiyan, Amaran, and Indian 2.

Tamil movie Kanguva starring Suriya in the lead opened to positive reviews on Friday 4. The movie, which is a reincarnation drama, is directed by Koratala Siva.

Despite the mixed reviews, the film opened on a decent note, minting Rs 22 crore on day 1, reported Sacnilk. Kanguva had an overall 37.27 per cent occupancy in Tamil (2D) shows , with major business coming from Chennai, Coimbatore, Dindigul and Kochi. Where as in Tamil (3D) shows, it was a little higher, that is 49.89 per cent.

Suriya's Kanguva, released on November 14, is facing piracy issues as it was leaked online soon after its theatrical debut. The epic-fantasy film, starring Suriya, Bobby Deol, and Disha Patani, is available for free download on multiple torrent sites.

Kanguva is expected to have a decent opening despite mixed reviews. The film, directed by Siruthai Siva, features Suriya in dual roles.

Kanguva is anything but a lazy film as Siva and cinematographer Vetri Palanisamy have given their all. Yet, underwhelming writing fails to invoke any investment in the characters and their stakes.
