Voters in Washington decided to reject three of the four statewide initiatives on Tuesday's ballot except one, according to the Associated Press.

Washington state voters had the opportunity to cast their vote on four ballot initiatives in the 2024 election, which if passed would each have major ramifications on policy. While two of the initiatives were resoundingly rejected on Tuesday night,

An initiative to make Washington’s long-term care program, and paying the tax that funds it, voluntary for state residents was failing, as of Tuesday. About 55.5% of voters opposed Initiative 2124 while 44.

Initiative 2109 would have repealed the state capital gains tax imposed annually on the sale or exchange of long-term Washington capital assets.

Those impacted by the tax include individuals making more than $250,000 in capital gains from the sale or exchange of certain long-term assets. Opponents expressed concerns about the bid to repeal the tax.
